全球可再生能源的使用正逐渐增加,这对于应对气候变化可能是一个关键。

可再生能源,就是指能源本身可以自然再生(replennish),永不枯竭的能源,最为常见的有太阳能,风能,水能,地热(geothermal),生物能(biomass)。人类大部分使用的为化石燃料(fossil fuels),但可再生能源的使用率增长最快。

它有以下3个优点:

(1)应对气候变化,可再生能源的使用不会直接产生温室气体,产生温室气体主要是在其制造过程中例如制造,安装,操作等,但在过程中排放量很小

(2)减少污染,减少对人体健康的威胁。风能水能太阳能的使用不会造成空气污染,相较于不可再生资源,地热和生物能造成的污染要少得多

(3)可靠:可再生能源永不枯竭,一旦建成,操作成本非常低,消耗的资源也是免费

但可再生能源也有以下3个缺点:

(1)不能大规模发电

(2)大坝和风力发电厂的建设会破坏野生动物的生活及其迁徙模式(migration pattern),破坏生态

(3)不稳定(intermittent),太阳能和风能的利用依靠自然,电池储存能源也非常昂贵

一方面,可再生能源的使用既有挑战,但也提供一种替代化石燃料的方式,使用可再生能源不会产生温室气体,无污染,更环保。先进的科技使可再生能源易获取,可负担,更高效,应对气候变化将会变得触手可及。
